LEG COVER
In 2016, I was hired to work with Unyq to create a new leg cover design targeting women. Most of their designs at the time
addressed mainly male profiles, and women weren't being engaged as much.
We started the project by analyzing what muscle groups determine the profile of the human leg, and what makes certain profiles "appealing"
Gathering images on some of the most popular woman figures at the time, we measured profiles in the anterior and lateral views, graphing the
distance at each point along the sides of the profile from the center line running from the condyle to the ankle. We found that there were
two distinct types of profiles with very different curvatures.
The resulting weighted average of the two types of leg shapes created a new profile that had to be adjusted to fit in the necessary hardware.
To emphasize the simplicity of the profile we created a generative algorithm that mapped lines flowing down the leg in the direction of least
resistance based off of the leg's shape. These lines were given an additional parameter to twist as they moved down the leg
The resulting product required the seam of the cover to be moved to the front, disguised as another line moving down the leg.
